Color Codes Reference

HyperPerms supports Minecraft-style color codes for formatting prefixes, suffixes, and chat messages. Use these codes to add color and style to your ranks.

Color Codes

Color codes use the & symbol followed by a character. These work in prefixes, suffixes, and chat formatting.

CodeColorExample
&0BlackBlack
&1Dark BlueDark Blue
&2Dark GreenDark Green
&3Dark AquaDark Aqua
&4Dark RedDark Red
&5Dark PurpleDark Purple
&6GoldGold
&7GrayGray
&8Dark GrayDark Gray
&9BlueBlue
&aGreenGreen
&bAquaAqua
&cRedRed
&dLight PurpleLight Purple
&eYellowYellow
&fWhiteWhite

Formatting Codes

In addition to colors, you can apply text formatting styles:

CodeStyleExample
&kObfuscated (Magic)Random characters
&lBoldBold Text
&mStrikethroughStrikethrough
&nUnderlineUnderlined
&oItalicItalic Text
&rResetResets all formatting

Usage Examples

Simple Prefix

text
# Red Admin prefix
&c[Admin]

# Gold VIP prefix
&6[VIP]

# Green Member prefix
&a[Member]

Multi-Color Prefix

text
# Rainbow effect
&c[&6R&ea&an&bk&9]

# Gradient style
&4[&cOwner&4]

# With formatting
&c&l[ADMIN]

Prefix with Name Coloring

text
# Prefix that colors the player name
&c[Admin] &c

# The trailing &c will color the player's name red
# Result: [Admin] Steve (all in red)
End your prefix with a color code to color the player's name. For example,&c[Admin] &c will make both the prefix and name red.

Combining Colors and Formatting

You can combine colors with formatting codes. Apply formatting after the color:

text
# Bold red text
&c&lBold Red

# Underlined gold text
&6&nUnderlined Gold

# Bold italic green text
&a&l&oFancy Green
The &r (reset) code clears all formatting. Use it to prevent formatting from bleeding into the player name or message.

Hex Colors

HyperPerms also supports hex color codes for more precise colors:

text
# Hex color format
&#RRGGBB

# Examples
&#FF5733[Custom Orange]
&#9B59B6[Custom Purple]
&#3498DB[Custom Blue]

Chat Format Example

Here's an example chat format configuration:

json
{
  "chat": {
    "format": "%prefix%&f%player%%suffix%&8: &7%message%"
  }
}

This format results in:

  • Prefix with its own colors
  • Player name in white (&f)
  • Suffix with its own colors
  • Colon in dark gray (&8)
  • Message in gray (&7)
